The Worst is Yet to Come for the Job Market – What Are the Biggest Recession Proof Industries

According to a report by CNNMoney, “this is the most brutal downturn in decades”. Unemployment has spiked to a 25-year high of 8.1%. Worst yet, over 3.3 million jobs have been lost in the past six months alone. “Economists say the steepness of the decline will make it tougher to the job marketing to improve any time soon.

What are you going to do about it?

Are you doing to stick your head in the sand and hope you aren’t another victim of the worst economy in decades or are you going to do protect yourself? Most people don’t plan ahead. In countries like Japan, you are typically employed for life with the same company. The United States has had this same type of environment in the past as well. The times have changed. Most companies don’t take care of their employee as they once it and there is no loyalty to companies by employees anymore. The job environment has turned into a fend for yourself society.

What can I do?

You have mainly two options. First, get part-time job. The second is to start your own business.

Both of these options have their advantages and disadvantages, but the decision is ultimately up to you.

Part-time jobs are plentiful out on the marketing especially if you are willing to work nights and weekends. A big disadvantage is that these jobs are low paying and are usually first ones to go during slow times.

Starting your own business is a risk/reward venture. According to Small Business Administration (SBA), it’s a general rule of thumb that businesses have a 50/50 chance of surviving for five years or more. To me at 50/50 proposition is a very bad one. With the money it takes to start most business, which is a huge risk of business failure.

Can I start a business with little risk and lots of reward potential?

Network marketing is one of the few businesses that you can start in today’s society that truly has little risk and lots of reward potential. With the multitude of options available, funding the business for you is easier than even. If you are concerned about the old school network marketing approach of hounding your friends, family, and neighbors to use your products and/or services, don’t be. Those days are long over. With the advancement of social networking, you can connect with individuals from all over the world that are genuinely interested in your business without having to sell. You just have to learn to share your knowledge and experiences and the customer will come.

Hi John,

Network marketing is definitely one of the safest bets in an unstable economy. If enough people can get over the damage that old school techniques did to the industry, they would find a literal gold mine in a world of financial uncertainty.

What you say about the lack of loyalty between companies and their employees is quite true and it can be seen everywhere these days.

Excellent article. Thank you for sharing.

Hi John,

I agree with what you say. I think we are going through a fundamental change in our economy and if someone wants to build a successful life they will have to start and run there own business. The old days of retiring from a company with a nice pention are gone.

Network marketing is the perfect way for people to build a business and control their destiny.

While I would not have done Nework Marketing in the past, the web has changed all that.

Good Read,
